Master Sifu Peter Wong

Master Sifu Peter Wong has been involved in Chinese martial arts for nearly 50 years and is an expert in the Choy Lay Fut style that originates from the Shaolin temple in China.

Master Peter Wong's past and current positions held are:

Sifu Howard Wong

Sifu Howard Wong (the original Dai Si Hing of the ‘Hon Hsing’ athletic club in Vancouver); martial artist, lion and dragon dance choreographer. His involvement has dated back to 1978, and he has donated his time and efforts to our athletic club ‘Hon Hsing’, pioneering the modern arts of lion-dance in Vancouver.

In the Hon Hsing Year, he was an avid participant and member in many events, included and not limited to:
    • The record breaking two-story high performance with 8 fairies of god crossing the river and fish flowing over the dragon gate 八仙過河 鋰躍龍門青」
      (“The Eight Immortals Crossing The Sea”)
    • The grand opening of the ‘National Congress of Chinese Canadians’ (N.C.C.C.) (“The first hidden opening ceremony of the All-Chinese Canadian Association “The fairy descended to earth to wake the lion and congratulate the plum blossom cake, and the colourful flying green”) Performed lion dancing at 10 feet high stage surrounding a huge flower blossom birthday cake with 1000 aired balloons concealed in huge centre barrow, a first time in history of Vancouver 5 lions tag along with 5 beautiful young fairies created a Ying and Yang harmony composition.

    • Shaolin’s monks first time visiting and meeting the Vancouver’s ‘Pacific National Exhibition’ (P.N.E.) lion dance performance on a stumped apparatus show. 少林寺步步高升青」 (“The Shaolin Temple rises step by step”)
    • British Columbia’s Parksville was invited through BC’s tourism to indulge in their first lion-dance and Kung Fu performance and festival, lasting three weeks
    • Hon Hsing’s victory in an international lion-dance championship in Vancouver; judged by the late Quan Duck Hung.
  • Also performed at the Vancouver’s 2010 Olympics for the grand opening.
